Francis Bacon, the singer-songwriter whose early career spanned from the ’60s to the ’90s, is one of the most revered figures in contemporary rock.
A member of the Grateful Dead, he’s also an important force in the pop culture landscape.
The New York Times reported on Friday that the Grammy-nominated artist’s label, MGMT, has signed on to record his next album.
“Francis Bacon is the best songwriter who has ever lived,” the company said in a statement.
“We are thrilled to add Francis to MGMT and beyond.”
The album will be released in early 2018.
In addition to Bacon, MGM has signed artists like J. Cole, Katy Perry, and Pharrell Williams.
Bacon’s band, the Grateful, also released a self-titled album in 2015.
